Getting more for your home by having it professionally staged when you are selling it is not a new concept but it has become increasingly more important as the housing market picks back up and becomes more competitive. Luckily for you, you're connected with me...me, who uses the best staging talent in the valley, Owner Terrie Day of Allure with Decor.

What is staging? "I make everything look pretty," says Terrie. This is an extremely modest and humble statement on her part being that she brings out the best in a home. Staging is not decorating! You may have invested a ton of time and money into your home to suit your tastes and that's all well and good but when you go to sell it, your home will sell for more money and sell more quickly if it is transformed into a place that potential buyers can easily imagine as their home. THIS is where Terrie enters the picture.

Homes staged before hitting the market sell, on average, 73 percent faster than their unstaged counterparts, according to the Real Estate Staging Association. With most home buyers beginning their search online, staging your home can lead to wonderful photos that give you an attractive digital presence and the edge you need to get buyers through the door.

I am so incredibly confident in her abilities that have proven to "pay off" time and time again, that, in some cases, I gift an initial consultation with her when you list your home with me. You'll be hard pressed to find another broker or agent in the valley who will do that for you.

When she's staging a vacant home that's for sale, she does a walk-thru and generates a curated collection of furniture and furnishings for the home. If people are still in the home, she works with what they have, adding pillows, throws and lamps.

She has quite a collection of her own pieces. She rents others and sources items from a variety of stores. Pretty in Paint is her favorite local spot but she also frequents TJ Maxx and online options. Terrie believes, "Staging doesn't have to be expensive. It just has to look like it and be put together beautifully."

After being in the design business since 2006, her approach is to keep things simple, not cluttered, and promote a feeling of comfort, rest and beauty.

Terrie considers herself a "lifestyle designer." She stages and designs homes that tell the story of you. "In reality, it’s not about me…My work is always a reflection of you."

With Allure with Decor, Terrie's refined yet sensible taste is put to good use as a designer for occasions like weddings and events too. But when she's not busy with all of THAT, she enjoys cooking and baking from scratch, raising her three beautiful daughters, being a stellar wife, loving on their cat and dog, traveling (they go to Europe every other year) and fussing over her chickens that she is "ridiculously crazy about."

She loves them and they seem to feel the same for her. In fact, the next door neighbor's hen comes to visit Terrie and her feathered friends every day. Terrie's mother makes fun of her and "her chickens," so much so that she made Terrie's regular visitor a sweater. Not sure if Terrie's rooster is admiring the well dressed hen or if he's glaring enviously at if from the outside. Hilarious!

Honestly, people don't get much more adorable than Terrie. Call me if selling your home in the shortest amount of time and for the most money is your goal, and we'll get Terrie to help us.
